Mexico!

I just got back from an amazing trip to Mexico with some of my best friends. I have been wanting to take a trip like this for a long time so I was stoked that I had a little bit of time off skiing to go relax in the sun for a bit!

Myself and my 4 other buddies (Anatole, Mark, Seb, and Tanner) all flew into Puerto Vallarta for the first 3 days of the trip. As we flew in I literally was just kidding about the airport people giving us tequila when we landed because we were in Mexico, and we step off the plane and then first thing that happened was the people who worked at the airport all gave us tequila shots I was losing it hahah.

Tequila in the airport, why not?

So after we took some tequila we headed out to go check out our hotel and obviously find the closest place to get a Margarita in us. Again, another funny coincidence is that our hotel was located right beside “Margaritagrill” which was very dangerous…. So we embarked on our first night out in Mexico and it was a fun one, a couple drinks, a couple tourist traps, you know how it goes.

Margaritagrill right next to our spot where we spent some series time in….

We spent about 3 days in Puerto Vallarta exploring and finding the local spots to eat and drink and we had an awesome time! Also the weather was awesome it was pretty much 30 degrees and blue skies every single day.

We then decided we were hoping on a bus to Sayulita, which is a little surfing town about 1.5hrs from Puerto Vallarta where we would spend the rest of our trip. We took a local bus and it was about 3$ which was awesome but it was also one of the sketchiest busses I have ever been on hahah. It looked like someone had just put together a vehicle out of a bunch of random metal parts and colours it was hilarious and it was probably the bumpiest busses Ive ever been on… (didn’t sit well with all the margeritas and tequila we had the night before….)

We arrived in Sayulita at our new spot and it was awesome. We had a whole rooftop patio basically to ourselves where we could watch the most unreal sunsets every night itwas so cool.

We decided to take a fishing trip while we were there which I thought sounded awesome! We all got a good night sleep the night before and woke up before the sun and went down to the Ocean to catch some fish! The one thing I did not expect, was to be sea sick the entire time while all my friends had the best time ever and caught 12 fish while I had my head over the side of the boat puking for 3 HOURS…. The only good thing that came of that trip was that later that night I got to eat all the fish they caught so it wasn’t a total loss…. And damn it was good!

We finished the trip of with a couple days of surfing and a big beach party to cap it all off! It was such an amazing experience traveling around and exploring Mexico in the fashion that we did. We got to see a lot of their culture and do tons of different stuff every single day, which was exactly what I was looking for out of this trip. We also probably ran them out of Coronas but whatever…. I am currently in Calgary AB for my seasonal fitness testing and we will be having a few more ski spring camps coming up so stay tuned for more of that!!
